The club caters for all abilities and meets for training runs on Monday and Wednesday at 7pm at Higham Cricket Club, just off Higham Common Road in Higham.  Showers and changing facilities are currently unavailable due to Coronavirus restrictions.

Evening runs in the winter keep to areas with street lights but summer runs can be more adventurous and often get away from roads onto trails and paths and through woods.

When not participating in races, longer Sunday runs are often organised on an ad hoc basis and may start at various locations agreed between those taking part.

Also, extra training is sometimes organised by a group who may be targeting a specific race such as the London Marathon.

Members can choose to enter as many or as few races as they wish, at distances ranging from 5K (3.1 miles) up to Marathon (26.2 miles) and beyond!  Club members enter many local races such as the Wombwell 5, Barnsley 10K, Travellers 6, Trunce, Spencers Dash and local road and cross-country leagues.  There are also fell races and mountain marathons for the more adventurous!

Entering races is a great way to check on how youíre improving and to meet like-minded people from other clubs; and you donít have to be a Paula Radcliffe or Steve Cram (although if you are, thatís great!)

Have a look at the Calendar page for races coming up; there are often entry forms available on training nights.  (Bring along any spare entry forms you pick up.)  As Kingstone Runners is an England Athletics affiliated club, there's a £2 discount on many race entries for club members.

Each year, a number of races are chosen as points-counters for the Club Championship.  These tend to be mostly local and low-cost races.  See the Championship page for more information.

Race results are usually sent to the Barnsley Chronicle for publication.
